How are Pediatric Therapists Different?

  • Pediatric therapists specialize in treating children and understand that children communicate and comprehend differently during the various stages of growth and development. Therapists are trained in growth and development.
  • Therapists involve the family during therapy as well as provide the families with ideas and activities to promote a carryover of skills into the home.
  • Therapists are knowledgeable about physical and cognitive developmental milestones; neurological and muscle development; emotional development; behavior management; effects of birth injuries on growth and development; activities and toys that promote healthy development.

Additional Services:

  • Therapy in Your Home - If your child is unable to travel or has other restrictions, the therapists are available to come to you - providing therapy to your child in your home. This is determined on a case-by-case basis, please call for more information.
  • Oral Motor Therapy - The focus is on the use of the muscles in and around the mouth and face. Oral motor skills are important for learning to eat and talk properly.
  • Sensory Integration Therapy - The ability to process sensory information - touch, taste, movement, sound, gravitational pull - is important to successfully engage in activities such as running, playing, school, etc.
  • Pool Therapy - It's fun, it's wet and our young patients benefit from physical therapy in our pool. Climate controlled and with a wheelchair lift, the pool is specifically designed for patients needing therapy.
